19th Century Rounded Solid Teak Chest

Vintage Design

Large solid teak chest with a slightly curved top made from a single plank of wood. The faces and sides, also made from a single plank of teak, are joined together at the corners in a dovetail.
The chest is made of a wood species that is remarkable for its beautiful grain.
On the front, the chest is decorated with two turned ebony knobs with bone in the centre. In the middle, we find a large iron strap hinged downwards and entering an entrance with a working lock.
At the back we find two straps coming on top and going down to the bottom with an iron hinge.
On each side, this box is decorated with a handle with iron plate.
Inside, we discover a decorative painting illustrated with flowers and foliage on a sky blue background. The lid is held by an iron compass.
This large chest, made of solid teak, has a very nice patina. It will delight by its rarity and its authenticity.
