About This Piece

Oil on canvas, Madonna with Child and book, School of Correggio, 16th - 17th century, Publio Podio Collection A painting of incredible depth and delicacy, it represents a figure of the child of extreme sweetness and delicacy, the female figure instead shows some characteristic traits typical in the realization and in the features of the Master, making the attribution to the school and therefore to a follower of Correggio entirely plausible. As further confirmation of the quality of this painting, on the back, we find the stamp of attribution of the Publio Podio collection. An interesting figure and one to be explored in depth is that of Publio Podio, founder of a family of restorers who for three generations worked between Rome, Florence, Bologna and Venice. Publio Podio, restorer for cultural heritage, donated part of his collection to the State. The painting is in good condition, as shown in the photo, it shows some natural signs of aging.
