Bronze with Brown Patina entitled "Reverie by the Lake" signed Edouard Drouot (1859 - 1945).
This French Sculptor is known for his Sculptures of Allegorical Scenes which are characterized by a Sense of Movement and an impressive Expressive touch.
"Reverie by the Lake" is a Sensual Work, featuring a lightly clothed Woman in a semi-recumbent position, leaning on an elbow and caressing a Swan.
Face turned towards the Horizon, lost in her thoughts, she wears a large ribbon in her long hair styled in the Belle Époque style.
Her body is covered with a light and transparent veil, emphasizing her delicate curves.
The Swan, symbol of Grace and Beauty, stands beside her, seemingly tamed as if bewitched.
Fascinating and graceful, this young woman reminds us of Leda, the Queen of Sparta who was seduced by Zeus transformed into a swan.
Edouard Drouot signs here a unique work, a praise to Femininity which seduces by its harmony and its poetry.
