Francesco Lavagna (active in Naples in the mid-18th century) Pair of flower vases Oil on canvas, without frame cm. 98 x 36 each - with frame cm. 112 x 50 each Ancient box frames in gilded and shaped wood Appraisal by Giancarlo Sestieri This wonderful pair of flower vases has been attributed by critics to Francesco Lavagna, a talented exponent of the Neapolitan artistic panorama of the mid-eighteenth century. The particular pictorial style played on interesting chiaroscuro passages combined with intense color choices makes this pair of canvases an exquisite example of the late Baroque Italian still life movement.
