Giuseppe Antonio Pianca (Agnona di Borgosesia/VC, 1703 – post 1757) Shepherd with goat and river Oil on canvas, without frame cm. 49 x 57 - with frame cm. 67 x 77 Ancient box frame in shaped, ebonized wood and gold decorations. Placed on the bank of a tumultuous stream are a child dressed in a bright cerulean robe and a goat with a hairy gray coat. The pictorial layout and the choppy sensitivity of the brushstrokes clearly refer to the production of Giuseppe Antonio Pianca, an artist with a strong popular taste, active in north-western Italy.
