Onofrio Loth (Naples, 1665 – Naples, 1717) Still life Oil on canvas, without frame cm. 37.5 x 47.5 - with frame cm. 50 x 57 Original frame in ebonized wood and gilded parts Expertise by Giancarlo Sestieri Publications: E. Longari, Mario Arlati. Power of Color, catalog of the Banca Generali exhibition, Milan, 2014, p. 88. A very active and famous still life artist, Onofrio Loth was a pupil in Naples in the workshop of Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo. In Rome he had the opportunity to collaborate with the greatest artists of his time such as Sebastiano Conca and Francesco Trevisani and had Cardinal Fabrizio Spada and the Ruspoli princes among his clients. In this small still life it is possible to grasp the creativity of the Loth expressed here through lively and interesting chromatic passages.
