About This Piece

Nice bronze with brunette patina of Auguste Joseph Peiffer (1832-1886), French sculptor born in Paris, which produced essentially bronzes with allegorical and mythological subjects.
This work is a beautiful child holding his hunting dog on a leash, preventing him from reaching a partridge lying on the ground.
Feet naked and slightly dressed, the chicken cherub shots firmly clinging the links holding its great setter. This one marks the stop on the bird that lies on a floor covered with foliage.
This sculpture is finely executed. The features are delicate and the many details.
The artist cleverly mixes the sweetness of the child and the strength of the hunting dog.
